APCF Release Atl 2014

Indianapolis, IN (May 14, 2014) – Two Time Funny Car Champ Tony Pedregon unveils a new hot pink, sparkling cross design at the NHRA Southern Nationals to promote the Andrea Pedregon Charity Foundation “Spark Of Hope”.

As our team continues to make progress with our performance, the timing is perfect to once again race for a cause and help support the efforts of my wife’s charity that has generated much needed funding to cancer research that ultimately saves lives,” said Tony Pedregon.

The Andrea Pedregon Charity Foundation was established in 2010 and is best known for its projects and live auctions. 100% of the funds raised go to children’s causes and cancer research as well as Melanoma, Prostate & Colon Cancer research. To date, Andrea’s Charity has donated close to $200,000.00

I feel we have a great opportunity to reach our fan base here in sunny Atlanta and support National Skin Cancer Awareness month” stated Andrea Pedregon. “We are encouraging ALL cancer survivors – and friends/family who have lost someone special to join us before the track walk begins on Sunday and sign the hood of Tony’s funny car. Our car will then honor those who have fought and remember those who have passed”, added Andrea.

APCF Donates $50,000 to IU Simon Cancer Center Research PDF Print E-mail
9The Andrea Pedregon Charity Foundation "A Spark of Hope" (APCF) wrapped up a year of fundraising efforts with the presentation of a $50,000 donation to the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center.

APCF has worked throughout 2013 to increase awareness for colon and prostate cancer and raise funds to support IU Simon Cancer Center's research efforts in those areas. Founder Andrea Pedregon made the check presentation today to Patrick Loehrer, M.D., director of the IU Simon Cancer Center. Cancer center physician scientists Bert O'Neil, M.D. and Noah Hahn, M.D. - who are experts in clinical trials and colon and prostate cancers - were on hand for the ceremony.

With today's check presentation, APCF has raised a total of $140,000 to benefit melanoma, children's cancer, and colon and prostate cancer research at IU Simon Cancer Center over the past three years.

Pedregon said, "We are so fortunate to have such generous supporters who helped our fundraising efforts reach this milestone. It means so much to be able to make an impact on the exciting research initiatives at the IU Simon Cancer Center right here in Indianapolis."

Pedregon, wife of 2-time National Hot Rod Association champion Tony Pedregon, designed and produced a collectible 2012 National Hot Rod Association Yearbook that raised more than $20,000 for the effort. Among other fundraisers this year was a live auction for fans and supporters at the US Nationals drag race at Lucas Oil Raceway over Labor Day weekend that netted $26,000.

Fans and racers at Lucas Oil Raceway this past weekend helped the Andrea Pedregon Charity Foundation "A Spark of Hope" (APCF) raise funds that will benefit the IU Simon Cancer Center's colon and prostate cancer research efforts.

A live auction Sunday evening netted $26,000 for the cause. Bidders won items from team apparel and autographed helmets to car parts and more. Unique items included a custom-built Harley-Davidson powered motorcycle and a once-in-a-lifetime NASCAR Cup racing package. All of the auction items were generously donated by APCF supporters.

One hundred percent of the auction's proceeds will go to the IU Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis for colon and prostate cancer research. APCF has been raising awareness and funds for the cause all year, with more than $20,000 raised earlier through sales of the 2012 NHRA Yearbook. The foundation will present the donation to the Cancer Center at the end of year.

Founder Andrea Pedregon said, "We are so fortunate to have such generous supporters. I can't thank our donors, volunteers, and of course our bidders enough! This is a great boost for our colon and prostate cancer research fundraising.
